New things are coming to Good At Knives. In the meantime:
I’ve been thinking about the internet—I used to be so excited about its possibilities. “Look what you can create, look what you can archive and save, look what you can make accessible and free! Look at all this talent, that’s ALWAYS been here, outside of Art’s approval!”—that pursuit made my career and made me PROUD of it.
So much of that is gone, including the career and I get so wrapped up in how I’ll survive I forget sometimes how BIG that loss is—this intentional detonation of a star. So much information, so much basic freedom and human rights are sucked into its void. I’m clumsily trying to figure out what to do—biting my lip through Zoom call after Zoom call about local organizing until I break skin.
I don’t know. Doing something is better than nothing, and it’s better than standing there, frozen, while every Democrat meme account screeches about the Left not falling in line. I just wish “something” felt solid at all.
Anyway.
Be brave, know your rights, protect your neighbors. Protect your neighbors. Protect your neighbors.
See you soon,
Salem
